How many parents (teachers, or even librarians for that matter) have heard children say they do not want to read during the summer months because it is interrupting their vacation. Well some of the leaders in education and learning have teamed up to develop a website that helps in sustaining students’ reading. Scholastic, PBS Kids, and iVillage have developed an online resource called Summer Reading Central website, where kids are able to access activities, and contests for the summer months to help their reading skills improve during the summer months. The site also provides tips for parents to help keep the students motivated, and a tracking features for educators.
So if you are having trouble keeping your child (or local children) reading, try this site for some ideas.
